The past 12 months have seen immense disruption and change for the global workforce and the impact of that has been significant on the mental health for employees. A study found that mental health related absenteeism alone, cost the UK £14 billion in 2020.
With this figure set to rise, companies need to act. Which is why, as a KPI, employee health and wellbeing is no longer a nice to have – it is a necessity.
2021 will see a continued shift towards developing a more public health-focused approach to managing workforce health and wellbeing.
Employers that take steps to support mental health at work will benefit from a more productive, happy and loyal workforce. Those that ignore the issue, or who undermine the mental health of their staff, risk not only the health of the people who work for them but the wealth of their business and the health of the economy as a whole.
There are several health and wellbeing interventions that, in our experience, can be introduced and have been shown to reduce the cost of poor mental health on business.
Delivering mental health awareness training to management teams, with the result of improved employee performance due to a change in manager’s attitude
One-to-one coaching to support employees’ mental health
Investing in health and wellness programmes
Having support systems in place for employees, particularly for those under more stress
Studies have shown that organisations that introduced health and wellness activities and support witnessed a 30-40% improvement in productivity, loss of which was previously linked to poor health. It is prudent to note that research shows that younger employees are particularly at risk when it comes to experiencing poor mental health, and older employees are more likely to be suffering with a chronic health condition.
With the dynamic nature of the global workforce, there is no one size fits all when it comes to health and wellbeing, which is why we take a holistic approach when working with organisations.

‘It was an honour to be invited to 'An Audience with Ravi Summan'. Ravi clearly knows his profession as a wellness practitioner, and he is a natural host and speaker. He and his events team were professional, well organised and a pleasure to communicate before, during and after the event. The quality of the event and guest speakers, led by Ravi himself, was very well received by the attendees, so I look forward to supporting and attending more of Ravi's events in future.'

As Bhavisha explains about her work: ‘My mission and purpose in life is to share this knowledge and amazing gift with all those who seek it and to anyone who asks. So that they may reap the benefits of these practices and use the peace this brings to enhance every facet of their lives.’
‘It was a pleasure to be invited as a speaker on Ravi Summan’s panel of guests. The session was very informative and very engaging. It was lovely to share my story and my passion for yoga and breathwork. I feel everyone needs yoga in their life, as a movement meditation and as a powerful healing tool. Yoga gives us strength, a sense of peace amongst the many other benefits. The primary focus in my yoga practice always comes back to the breath. Our vital life force.
Without breath we wouldn’t be on this Earth. I teach the importance of breathwork and increasing oxygenation. I hope to see you and meet you one day in my classes and workshops. I work with corporate clients to manage daily stresses and anxiety in the workplace. I change mindsets to help you look at dysfunctional breathing patterns and how more efficiently we can use our lunge capacities. Look forward to meeting you soon. Thank you Ravi for this space and allowing me to share my passion. I would love to work with Ravi again in the near future.’
‘The Fitness and Wellness event hosted by Ravi Summan was highly informative and added great value to my understanding of fitness and well-being. Ravi is an exemplary fitness and wellness practitioner with years of experience and knowledge. Listening to the stories of the coveted guests definitely gave me perspective and tips on the way I should approach my mindset especially when it comes to training. Ravi offers a lot more than just personal training. His approach is to tackle all elements of the mind and the body which ultimately leads to optimum health and wellbeing. Thank you for putting on such a wonderful event – my team and I enjoyed it thoroughly.’
'I listened to the event; it was very interesting to hear about the importance of emotional well-being in the corporate world. Ravi was an excellent facilitator of the event where he pulled out important themes from the speakers. The work I’m doing in my private practice is working with men in the corporate world, looking at performance management at work, purpose in life and mindfulness practice in the workplace to reduce stress levels.'
His support in training, eating diet and overall holistic approach on my goals, made my energy and vitality raise quickly. So instead of a only relaxing summer holiday, I got something totally different, which gave me so much more. I know how important it is to have someone supporting and believing in you and your goals as I work with leadership coaching of others, and here I felt the same thing that I hope my own clients experience.”
